Business Writing

My most productive business writing has been in the form of state and federal funding proposals. Unfortunately most of this work is proprietary so it is not possible to share it in complete form here. The creative writing examples on this site will provide some insight into my writing abilities.

I wrote, "Motivation: The Most Basic Process in TQM/CQI" for the Journal for Healthcare Quality back in May 2003. It is a good baseline example of my business/professional writing style. The article has been broken into three parts for lower bandwidth connections:

At the Clarion University of Pennsylvania Health Science Education Center I was responsible for implementing a process for program evaluation. One of the key aspects of this was a database tool that collected information from High School students across the Commonwealth. Data drawn from a paper-based survey was entered into a shared database application. One of the complete period reports is available by clicking here.

Other examples of writing include:

  • Wrote two consecutively successful "Broadband Outreach and Aggregation Fund" grant applications totalling $296,000. Funds were awarded by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development. Scope of work including outreach, education, and technical assistance with aggregating demand for high-speed Internet/broadband connectivity in unserved/underserved areas in northwest Pennsylvania.
  • Wrote one of two successful Pennsylvania applicatons for the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development 'Stronger Economies Together" training program. By virtue of the the award regional leaders received training and technical assistance, including development of customiized datasets, for implementation of innovative strategies for community and economic development.
  • Developed a model for regional broadband demand aggregation titled, IGET.IT (Inter-governmental Excellence Through Information Technology). Model represents opportunities to achieve significant return on investment within local governments by sharing IT applications enabled by broadband connectivity. Model won an Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations.
